Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Baker's semi-sweet or German's sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2/3 cup Karo light or dark corn syrup
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups quick oats
  • 4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • Melted chocolate for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. In 2-quart saucepan, stir chocolate and butter over low heat just until chocolate melts.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Stir in corn syrup, eggs and salt.
  4. In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients.
  5. Pour chocolate mixture over dry ingredients and mix well.
  6. Drop by tablespoonfuls on greased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake in 350 (F) oven for 15 minutes. (Cookies will not change much during baking.)
  8. Cool for 5 minutes on cookie sheet.
  9. Remove; cool completely.
