Darlene Hyrb’s chicken Brunswick stew recipe

When Mrs. Darlene Hyrb of Wixom, Michigan, realized that her husband Rick had polished off an entire pot of her Brunswick Stew, she knew she had a winner.
Her own recipe for chicken Brunswick stew, made with French’s Beef stew seasoning mix, won a “French’s prize recipe award” for turning ordinary chicken into a really special dish.

Chicken Brunswick stew
A retro dinner recipe from 1982
Ingredients
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 32 ounces canned tomatoes
- 1/2 cup each water and sherry (or 1 cup water)
- 1.5 ounces beef stew seasoning mix (1 envelope)
- 10 ounces frozen whole kernel corn
- 10 ounces frozen lima beans
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3-1/2 to 4 cups cubed, cooked chicken or turkey
- 10 ounces frozen okra
- 1 small zucchini, sliced
Instructions
- Cook onions in oil in large pan until tender.
- Add tomatoes, water, sherry, seasoning mix, corn, beans, Worcestershire sauce and salt.
- Simmer, covered, 15 minutes.
- Add chicken, okra and zucchini; simmer 10 minutes.
