When the outside of you is cold, the inside of you likes something that makes you warm. And rum is one of the very few beverages that warms you when you are cold, just as it cools you when you are warm.

The Rums of Puerto Rico do it best of all, because they are to mix with almost anything in almost any kind of drink — from a holiday punch to the classic Daiquiri. They are light and dry, charcoal filtered, and distilled at high proof.

And they are very smooth, because the people who make them must age them according to strict standards. For Thanksgiving punches and Christmas eggnogs, or branching drinks for the ski lodge, let the Rums of Puerto Rico being a little sunshine.

1. Hot rum toddy – Vintage recipe

Put 1 teaspoon of honey in a mug; dissolve it with hot water. Add 1-1/2 ounce of White or Gold Puerto Rico Rum and a lemon slice studded with four cloves. Fill the mug with boiling water, then add a cinnamon stick.

2. Thanksgiving punch

Mix together (in a punch bowl); 1/2 cup (4 ounces) of lemon juice, 1/4 cup (2 ounces) of sugar, 1 cup (8 ounces) each of cranberry juice, orange juice, and any type of strong tea. Then, add 1 “fifth” bottle (25.6 ounces) of White Puerto Rico Rum an a dozen cloves. Introduce ice cubes to chill the punch. Decorate with thin lemon slices. Serves 15.

3. Hot rum and cider

In a preheated mug containing 1-1/2 ounce of White or Gold Puerto Rico Rum. Add one teaspoon each of maple syrup, sugar, and the juice of one lemon; fill with hot apple cider; stir; garnish with two cloves and a slice of lemon.

4. Cafe Puerto Rico

Pour 1-1/2 ounce of White or Gold Puerto Rico Rum into a cup of strong, hot black coffee; add one teaspoon of sugar and stir; float whipped cream on top.

5. Eggnog with rum

Beat 12 egg yolks until light; beat in 1/2 pound of sugar until the mixture is thick. Stir in 1 quart of milk and a “fifth” of Gold Puerto Rico Rum. Chill for 3 hours, then pour into a punch bowl. Fold in 1 quart of heavy cream, stiffly whipped. Chill for 1 hour, then dust with nutmeg. Serves 24.

Quick Recipe: Use 1 quart of eggnog mix from your dairy, then add 12 ounces of rum. Fold in 1 cup of heavy cream, whipped. Chill; add nutmeg. Serves 12.

6. Tom and Jerry

Beat 1 egg yolk; work in 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of allspice, and 1 ounce of White or Gold Puerto Rico Rum. Continue to beat until smooth and thick. Beat the egg white separately and add to mixture, stirring well. Put the mixture into a preheated Tom-and-Jerry mug, then fill with hot milk and dust with nutmeg.

7. Hot buttered rum

Dissolve 1 teaspoon of sugar in a mug with some hot water, then add 1 ounce of White or Gold Puerto Rico Rum, a cinnamon stick, and a pinch of nutmeg. Fill mug with boiling water, top with pat of butter.
