A long, cool summer with delicious rum drinks

When it comes to tall, frosty, cool drinks, nothing does it quite like the specially light Rums of Puerto Rico, distilled at a high proof, these dry, clear rums make the simple drinks smoother, and your party drinks dependably flavorful.

1. Rum martini

White or Silver Puerto Rico Rum with dry vermouth (or try a few drops of dry cocktail-type sherry). Stir with ice and pour. Add a twist of lemon or olive.

2. Rum Collins

1 ounce of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 2 ounces of White or Silver Puerto Rico Rum. Shake with ice and pour unstrained into a tall glass.

3. Rum punch

Into a punch bowl over a block of ice or ice cubes, pour 1 quart of orange juice, 1 quart of pineapple juice (unsweetened), 1 quart of club soda, 6 ounces of lime juice, and 1 quart of White or Gold Puerto Rico Rum. Sweeten to taste. Serves 25.

4. Rum screwdriver

In a highball glass with ice cubes, pour 1 ounce of White or Silver Puerto Rico Rum. Fill glass with orange juice, or try it on-the-rocks in an Old Fashioned glass.

5. Rum and bitter lemon

Use 1-1/2 ounce of White or Silver Puerto Rico Rum, add ice and bitter lemon mix.

6. Rum gimlet

1 part Gimlet lime juice (sweetened); 4 parts White or Silver Puerto Rico Rum over an ice cube in a large cocktail glass, stir. Flat a thin slice of lime on top (optional).

7. Daiquiris by the pitcherful

For these rum drinks, ionto a large glass pitcher, pour the juice of 5 limes (5 ounces); add 3 scant tablespoons of sugar (or one can of frozen Daiquiris Mix); stir, then add 15 ounces of White or Silver Puerto Rico Rum. Add ice cubes until the pitcher is three quarters full and stir well. Serves 10.

8. Rum and tonic

1-1/2 ounces of White or Silver Puerto Rico Rum in a highball glass with ice cubes, then fill with tonic water. Add a squeeze of lime or lemon.
