Snow-topped jam thumbprint cookies

Total Time: 41 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup Aunt Jemima syrup
  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 3 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1-1/3 cups chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 salt (optional)
  • 1/3 cup fruit preserves

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 (F).
  2. Beat first 4 ingredients until smooth.
  3. Add dry ingredients, mixing well.
  4. Chill for 10 minutes.
  5. Roll into 1-inch balls; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Press center of each with thumb; fill with preserves.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until edges are golden.
  8. Cool completely.
  9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
  10. Store loosely covered.
