Spiced crackle cookies
These classic spiced crackle cookies from the 80s - rolled in powdered sugar before baking - deliver a sweet dessert with rich flavor and a little warm and spicy tang.
Ingredients
- 2-1/2 cups unsifted flour
- 1 cup Kellogg's 40% Bran Flakes cereal
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup Best Foods Real mayonnaise
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/4 cup (about) confectioners sugar
Instructions
- In bowl, stir together flour, cereal and next 5 ingredients.
- In large bowl with mixer at high speed, beat sugar, mayonnaise, eggs and vanilla 2 minutes, or until blended.
- With wooden spoon, stir in cereal mixture.
- Cover; chill 1 hour.
- With greased hands, shape dough by level tablespoonfuls into 1-1/2-inch balls.
- Roll in confectioners sugar.
- Place 2-inch apart on greased cookie sheets.
- Bake in 350 (F) oven 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
- Cool before serving.
