These classic spiced crackle cookies from the 80s - rolled in powdered sugar before baking - deliver a sweet dessert with rich flavor and a little warm and spicy tang.

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 cup Kellogg's 40% Bran Flakes cereal
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup Best Foods Real mayonnaise
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 cup (about) confectioners sugar

Instructions

  1. In bowl, stir together flour, cereal and next 5 ingredients.
  2. In large bowl with mixer at high speed, beat sugar, mayonnaise, eggs and vanilla 2 minutes, or until blended.
  3. With wooden spoon, stir in cereal mixture.
  4. Cover; chill 1 hour.
  5. With greased hands, shape dough by level tablespoonfuls into 1-1/2-inch balls.
  6. Roll in confectioners sugar.
  7. Place 2-inch apart on greased cookie sheets.
  8. Bake in 350 (F) oven 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  9. Cool before serving.
