Cheery Cherry Coke Salad recipe (1964)
Mrs Carrol (Esther) Goen of 320 W Oak prepared a zippy molded salad that sparks a table with its jewel-like appearance. It’s a Cherry Coke Salad.
1 family size package cherry Jell-O
1 can bite-size pineapple, drained
1-1/2 ounce jar maraschino cherries, drained
1 cup miniature marshmallows
1/2 cup pecans, broken
2 cups Coca-Cola
Mix jello using 2 cups hot water; allow to cool before adding 2 cups Coke. Add other ingredients stirring only enough to mix. Chill until firm.
Serve with sour cream dressing, using half mayonnaise and half sour cream.

1 package black cherry gelatin
1 can bing cherries
1 small can pineapple
1 3-ounce package of cream cheese
1 cup chopped pecans

Warm cream cheese, then mix with dry gelatin. Drain juice from a can of cherries and the can of pineapple to make one cup. Heat the juices together in a saucepan to the boiling point, then pour over the gelatin and cream cheese mixture.
Put it in the refrigerator until it’s thick and syrupy. Add one cup of cold cola and return it to the refrigerator until mixture is again of syrupy consistency.
