The great marshmallow pumpkin recipe

The perfect touch for a Halloween party: a confection of a centerpiece the kids can make. After the festivities, scoop out portions and wrap for take-home treats.

Grease a 7-inch pie plate; set aside. In large glass bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, 6 tablespoons butter and 1 can (5 oz.) evaporated milk. Microwave on High 10 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes and scraping sides of bowl — set aside.

Microwave 1 jar (7-1/2 oz.) of marshmallow cream uncovered on Medium 1 minute, stir into sugar mixture with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Blend in about 10 drops yellow and 3 drops red food coloring for a pale orange color. Pour into prepared pie plate.

Cool 20 minutes before decorating. Use a gumdrop for stem, a candy watermelon slice for mouth, licorice lace for eyebrows, and gummy or other candies for nose and eyes. Edge face with candy corn. Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour.
