Compared to basic instant pudding, Soft Swirl was more mousse-like. With that in mind, in their promotional efforts, the company went for the angle that Soft Swirl was a fancier kind of dessert… good enough for guests, so a treat to have on regular days.
It was so fancy, in fact, that the Jello folks enlisted Florence Henderson (that’s Carol Brady to you) to introduce the stuff — and you can see one of those TV commercials below.
The last advertising mention of the product that we could find was from 1987, when the Swirl mix seems to have quietly disappeared. We think maybe Cousin Pudding was behind its demise, but that has not been confirmed by authorities.

Pumpkin Treat. Prepare Vanilla Creme according to package directions. Blend with 1 cup canned pumpkin. Makes 5 servings.
Peach Shortcake. Cake cubes drizzled with peach syrup, topped with cut peach slices and prepared Peach Creme or Vanilla Creme Soft Swirl. Makes 6 servings.
Chocolate Graham Crunch. Prepared Chocolate Creme layered with crushed chocolate covered graham crackers. Makes 5 or 6 servings.
Mincemeat Rum Cup. Prepared Vanilla Creme blended with 2 tbsp. light rum or 1/2 tsp. rum extract and layered with 1 tbsp. moist mincemeat. Serves 4.

From the package: Easy directions
1. Pour 1-1/2 cups cold milk into a deep, narrow bowl. Add contents of package.
2. Thoroughly blend at a low speed of electric mixer. Then beat at medium speed for 3 minutes.
3. Spoon into individual dishes. Chill. Dessert will be ready to eat in 15 minutes. Makes 4 servings, 1/2 cup each — 190 calories per serving.

I really loved that Jell-O Soft Swirl Pudding that came in delicious flavors, like Chocolate, Vanilla, Peach & Strawberry. The Peach & Strawberry were my absolute favorites!! Can’t you try to put this item back on the shelves if not can you tell how I can get? I really do appreciate this a lot!!

I loved this as a kid! I remember making my favorite, peach swirl! If Pawpaw didn’t have it when I got there, we would go to the grocery. Please bring back this product!
