Easy Doozits, Chiffon Pie & other desserts with peanut butter & graham crackers (1962)

1. Easy Doozits recipe

To make Easy Doozits, combine 1-1/4 cups finely rolled Nabisco Sugar Honey Grahams cracker crumbs, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg. Stir in 1/2 cup Skippy Peanut Butter (Creamy or Chunk style) and 1/2 cup Karo syrup, blend well. Roll into 1/2-inch balls. Chill. Makes about 24.

2. Peanut butter chiffon pie

Combine 1 In-Er-Seal pack Nabisco Sugar Honey Grahams, finely rolled (1-2/3 cup crumbs), 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup softened margarine or butter. Press firmly against bottom and sides of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 8 minutes at 375 F. Cool.

Soften 1 envelope unflavored gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water. Separate 3 eggs. Combine well-beaten egg yolks with 1/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water and 1/2 teaspoon salt in top of double boiler. Add gelatin, heat until thick. Cool. Combine 1/3 cup Skippy Peanut Butter and 1/2 cup water, beat until smooth. Add yolk mixture and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.

Chill until slightly thick. Beat egg whites until stiff, gradually add 1/4 cup sugar. Fold into peanut butter mixture. Turn into crust. Chill. Top with whipped cream. Makes 6-8 servings.

3. Graham cracker log

Spread 1 In-Er-Seal pack Nabisco Sugar Honey Grahams with one 12 oz. jar Skippy Peanut Butter (Creamy or Chunk style), then with one 8 oz. jar apple jelly. Put together in stacks of 4 or 5. Lay stacks end to end to form a log.

Whip 1 cup heavy cream with 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar. Frost top and sides of log. Chill about 3 hours. To serve, slice diagonally. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
