From boots to saddles, all of the elements of a luxury tack room made an appearance in this western-themed family room, made back in the 1970s for a family of fast-riding horse lovers.

The handsome smoky glass table and quartet of smartly buckled vinyl suede swivel chairs were made by popular dinette manufacturers Daystrom. This themed seating area was part of a comfortable area for dining, playing games or watching TV.

The bar, with saddlery trim and five feet of hardy butcher block plastic veneer, was flanked by three silver metal stools upholstered in leathery Pawnee vinyl.

All metal surfaces were chrome-plated, and the upholstery was washable. It was a room with a sportive air, for good sports of all ages.

Above the bar and shelving, there was a small balcony that could be used for decorative storage — in this case, a saddle, hats and some plants.

Also shown here: Shag carpet was Magee’s Zanzibar in Sahara Natural. Fashion Vinyl wall covering in Capri by General Tire. The television was a Magnavox 25″ color TV console. On the table, a Kodak Pocket Carousel projector and Pocket Instamatic camera with tripod. Pine wall units were made by Interlock.
