Tuna ring: A vintage recipe from 1958

Tuna ring is a baked biscuit-like ring served with a cheesy tuna sauce
Ingredients
- 2 cups Bisquick
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 14 ounces flaked tuna with oil
- 1/2 cup grated sharp cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped pimiento
- 1/3 cup chopped celery
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 2/3 water
- 2 tablespoons Bisquick
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Heat oven to 400 (F).
- Grease a 9-inch square baking dish or an 11- by 7-inch, or a 9-inch ring mold.
- Blend 2 cups Bisquick, 2/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup water, eggs, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
- Beat vigorously 30 seconds.
- Mix in 1-1/2 cans of tuna, 1/4 cup of cheese, onion, pimiento and celery.
- Spread batter in prepared pan.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of cheese over the top.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
- While the Tuna ring, make the Tuna sauce -- Gradually add 1 cup milk and 2/3 cup water to 2 tablespoons Bisquick, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and remaining 1/2 can of tuna.
- Serve Tuna sauce in the center of the Tuna ring.
