10 elegant Victorian Valentine’s cards — embossed, embellished & beautifully made

Before Hallmark and mass-produced romance, Valentine’s Day cards were often works of art — and the Victorians, with their flair for sentiment and ornament, elevated the form into something almost theatrical. These elaborate keepsakes were typically made with embossed paper, layers of lace, romantic illustrations, and handwritten verses. Some were handcrafted entirely at home from scraps and ephemera, while others were commercially produced with impressive printing techniques that added dimension, texture and shimmer.
