Like most striking rooms, this windowless sitting area’s well-blended elements were surprisingly simple.
Two officers’ chairs and a circular brass tray on a stand were the only pieces of furniture in this room from the 1960s.
In the middle of the cabinets, a paper mural with an antique design stood in for a window.
Another real difference came in with a measure of lighted imagination — tiny Christmas tree lights framing the room’s built-in shelves.
Accessories, too, exhibited an air of freshness and simplicity when they were displayed effectively everywhere you look. The shelves adjusted easily to accommodate various sizes of trinkets, glasses and bottles.
The walls, ceilings and cabinetry in this sitting room/family room were all painted a warm yellow.
