This vintage 1960s living room — made from a terrace space — was filled with bold contrasting animal print patterns that filled nearly every surface, but combined to create a luxuriously exotic tent-like atmosphere.
The walls were lined with gathered draperies, and the entire ceiling was veiled in matching ruched fabric.
How some of the fabric was used: For a frenetic pattern set a tiny terrace-party room sizzling with tiger stripes (the banquette), baby cheetah spots spotted in turn with medallions of tiny Chinese gentlemen (everywhere), a flower-and-paisley confection (undercurtains), and striped corduroy (the table cover).
This hubbub might have been utter chaos had omitted to take a vital precaution: the only colors you were really aware of were orange and black.
