This kind of bedroom that doubled as a welcoming sitting room would have apparently delighted college-age girls back in the 1950s.
By placing two sofabeds in a 50s bedroom like this one, both stylishly covered in a black and white tweed fabric, this room could be converted into a sitting room — perfect for conversation, or watching television with visiting friends.
Overnight guests could easily be accommodated by removing the couch cushions and the green/pastel throw pillows as needed.
A wooden armchair and two matching tables — one a step table with a shelf that held a white table lamp and a short vase of flowers, and the other a rectangular coffee table — were grouped nearby.
Back to back with the sofa at a right angle to the entrance door were chests to store things like books, magazines, or even the sheets and pillows needed to make up the beds.
