A creamy olive cheese ball makes for an easy and delicious appetizer, and it’s a guaranteed hit at any festive event. This particular recipe comes straight from the 70s, which was pretty much the golden age of cheese spreads.

With a few ingredients — including olives — and your favorite seasonings, you can whip one up for a party or gathering in no time.

Olive cheese ball

Yield: Makes 1.5 pounds of cheese spread
Prep Time: 25 minutes
Additional Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1-1/2 cups grated mild cheddar cheese
  • 5 ounces smoke-flavored process cheese spread
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 7-1/2 ounces canned chopped olives
  • Chopped parsley
  • 6 ounces canned large pitted black olives

Instructions

  1. Soften cream cheese.
  2. Blend with mild cheddar cheese, cheese spread, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and salt.
  3. Beat until smooth.
  4. Fold in chopped olives and shape into a ball.
  5. Decorate with Lindsay Pitted Ripe Olives, cut in halves to form petals (as shown in photo), and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  6. Chill before serving. Serve with olives on the side.
