On one side of a vintage living room from 1965 was this charming little garden view dining area.

Upon a beautiful pale green antique rug, an 18th-century-style gaming table with matching chairs (upholstered in striped velvet) was set up for dinner for two.

But what really made this room come alive is what was on either side of the full-height sliding glass doors and windows.

Inside: The wooden shutters had a rustic feel, and while they didn’t scream for attention, they clearly made their presence known without distracting from the beauty of the scene. And they were more than just good-looking: they could also offer assorted degrees of privacy and sun protection.

Outside: On the far side of the glass was a stunningly beautiful display of greenery — trees and shrubs — off the outdoor balcony and staircase, that filled the view from this room.
