Here’s a bright family room that had an entire storage wall decorated in the style of artist Piet Mondrian.

Using the famous Mondrian blocks of red, blue, yellow and white — all outlined in black — these vintage 1970s cabinets and drawers took on new vibrant life as home decor with a real function behind them.

The colors, in this case, weren’t from paint — this bright Mondrian-inspired interior design was created with vintage “Bright Ons” plywood paneling.

The cabinet frame itself provided the design’s black borders, and small and unobtrusive white knobs were added for handles.

A low bench with colored panel fronts ran along an adjacent wall, and square cushions in primary colors continued the artsy theme.
