Jutting out from the corner wall of this cool, contemporary living room was a fireplace and chimney of very neatly laid natural grey stone.

The table, the sofas and chairs (by Italian designers Saporiti) were made of teak, and were uniquely upholstered in two contrasting colors — black and white.

The shiny glazed black brick-shaped ceramic tiles on the floor repeated the black of the upholstery, and also set off the brilliant two-color tones of the shaggy rug: a dusty blue and a dusty pinkish mauve.

The round hanging Japanese lampshade was made of paper, and the printed design on it repeated the colors of the rest of the room.
