While the overall look of this orange family room was restful, several creative ideas had actually come into play for its decor.

The sofa was made in the style an early American bed, complete with honey-colored spindles and found finials. The spinning library console table to the side of the couch had the same finish, while the tiny accent table was a slightly darker shade of brown.

The simple sofa cushions were covered with an orange, yellow and green floral print on white canvas-like fabric. Matching the color scheme, the rectangular orange throw pillow on the sofa had a fluffy chenille texture with pom-poms/ball fringe.

This room’s window coverings were in two parts. On the upper two-thirds of the window were natural-colored reed blinds with six different braids woven through the slats. Gold-colored curtain rods held cafe curtains on the lower part of the window.

Amtico “vinyl wood” in a muted brown-gray color was installed on the floor, then covered with a vibrant vintage Cabin Craft rug with orange and brown shag carpet stripes of varying thicknesses.

On the walls, a narrow wall shelf served as a wall magazine rack by using more gold-colored curtain rods to keep the magazines in place. There was decorative ribbon on the vertical wall beams.

On the pale yellow dressing table, yellow and white ribbon appeared in a woven pattern on the bureau panels.

One particularly retro touch was the cute green and red gumdrop Christmas tree decoration out on display.
