When the occasion called for elegance, this formal 1970s dining room was all set, with a combination of mod seventies style and traditional finishes and accessories.
Most essentially, the space’s dramatic scheme of indigo blue and white was built around a wall-sized graphic, seen here as looked back in 1976 when it was new and fresh.
The giant square (similar to a supergraphic) had the white and blue of the room in a single repeated diamond motif, which was enhanced beyond the usual with the addition of silver foil wallpaper and bands of a honey yellow.
Bare floors set off the elm burl-and-chrome table and the more causal white lacquer armchairs with blue wool seats.
The corner hutch has been painted white, and its glass shelves had an assortment of vintage glass containers and traditional blue and white china vessels and sculptures.
White shutter-style louvered doors seen at the left of the room opened to the sunroom and views of the lawn and pool.
