Having a party on Halloween? Then you’ll welcome this amusing and very easy to make funny face pie. It can be made hours in advance and brought out when the witches and goblins get hungry.

2 cups flaked coconut
1/4 cup butter
2 cups prepared whipped topping mix
1 package (3-1/4 ounce) vanilla instant pudding
1 cup canned pumpkin
2/3 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon*
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg*
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger*
* Or use 3/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice


Saute coconut in butter in a large skillet until coconut is golden brown, stirring constantly– about 8 minutes. Evenly press all except about 2 tablespoons coconut over bottom and sides of a buttered 8-inch pie pan. Cool.

Combine 1 cup of the prepared whipped topping mix, the instant pudding, pumpkin, milk and spices. Beat slowly with rotary beater just until well blended — about 1 minute. Pour into coconut crust.

Chill until set — about 5 hours. Garnish with remaining prepared whipped topping and coconut to form a funny face.
