First Walmart/Sam’s Club (1962 & 1983)

In 1950, Sam Walton purchased a store in Bentonville, Arkansas, which he called Walton’s 5 & 10. Twelve years later — on July 2, 1962 — Sam Walton opened the first Walmart store in Rogers, Arkansas.
