One of the new ideas for homemade gift calendars is to have them printed by weeks instead of months, each week having a card by itself.
At the top of the card is a space for a decoration which the giver knows is appropriate. Sometimes snapshots of places the donor and recipient have visited or places in which they have some particular interest are used; sometimes the space is illuminated with hand drawn “texts” taken from conversations held at that particular time the year before. All this gives an opportunity for personal touches and bits of sentiment much appreciated among intimate friends.
At present, these cards have to be printed to order and in special sizes to accommodate the snapshots. Red cards are especially attractive.
