Date delight

Ingredients: Two cupfuls of light brown sugar, one cupful of granulated sugar, one cupful of milk, one cupful of chopped dates, one tablespoon of butter, vanilla.

Mix the sugar and the milk together; put on to boil, and just as it comes to boiling point, add butter. Let this boil until, when tried in cold water, it will form a soft ball.

Take from the fire; add the vanilla and beat until creamy. Stir in the chopped dates and pour quickly into a buttered pan. Cut into squares when cold.
